Since 1968, Toronto Malayalee Samajam has been a home away from Kerala for Malayalees across the Greater Toronto Area. We keep our traditions alive and bring the community together.

About us
The first Malayalee association in North America
Our mission
To preserve and promote Malayalee heritage in Canada through cultural programs, community engagement and the bonds between generations. We unite Malayalees in Toronto, celebrate Kerala's traditions, support community welfare and pass our values on to our children.
Why join us?
Membership gives you a seat at every celebration, a vote in how the Samajam is run and a network of families who understand where you come from. It is also how we fund scholarships, relief drives and the two centres that keep our community close.
How it began
TMS was born out of a real need. The first Keralites in Toronto were few, far from family and hungry for news from home. They started meeting to share meals, letters and festivals, and in 1968 that circle became the Toronto Malayalee Samajam. Today it serves thousands across the GTA.

Promote cultural integration
We help Malayalees settle into life in the Greater Toronto Area while keeping South Indian art, language and customs alive in the city we now call home.

Celebrate and share our culture
Through festivals, stage programs and social gatherings we open Kerala's traditions to everyone, adding our colours to Canada's multicultural fabric.

Support education and youth
We reward academic excellence with scholarships, bursaries and prizes, and run programs that help children learn their heritage with pride.

Stand by those in need
When a family faces a crisis or a natural disaster strikes back home, TMS organises relief, raises funds and rallies the community to respond.

Onam 2026

Celebrate Kerala's harvest festival with the whole Samajam: a traditional Onam Sadhya at lunchtime, then an afternoon of entertainment and cultural programs. Bring your family and friends and make a day of it.
Membership
Join a community that feels like home
Lifetime membership is $150. Student membership is $50 for five years. Both bring you closer to the festivals, friendships and support that make Toronto feel a little more like Kerala.
